Italy, 1954. The image of grandeur and opulence, brought by the arrival of US troops ten years earlier during the Second World War, in 1944, is still fresh in the minds of many young Italians. One of these is Ferdinando Mericoni, known as Nando, but self-nicknamed Santi Bailor, eternal daydreamer, connoisseur of the American world through American cinema of which he is a fervent lover. Convinced of a future beyond the Atlantic, Nando transfers his fixation to Rome, Americanizing his life to the sound of imitations of all kinds and trying to recreate a Hollywood setting in his room, involving many unfortunate people in his oddities, in particular his parents, now desperate, and his girlfriend Elvira, who loves him despite everything, probably amused by his way of doing things.
